A car gifted by a businessman known for his expensive donations has become the centre of an unexpected tragedy in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwean prophet Raison Pachinhevere has reportedly died in a road accident while driving a luxury vehicle he received as a gift from the late businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

Pachinhevere, who was based in Chiweshe, was a member of the Johane Masowe eChishanu Church. News of his death has brought renewed attention to a photograph showing him alongside Chivayo, standing beside the white vehicle.

The story behind the vehicle

The photograph dates back to 2021, when Chivayo shared it on social media following a church gathering.

In the picture, the businessman is seen shaking hands with Pachinhevere beside the vehicle, marking a moment that has now taken on a different meaning following reports of the prophet's death.

Chivayo was widely known for his public displays of generosity, particularly his habit of gifting expensive vehicles and substantial amounts of money to musicians, religious leaders, church members and other personalities.

His donations were frequently announced through social media, where he shared photographs of beneficiaries alongside their new vehicles.

Chivayo's relationship with the church

Chivayo maintained close connections with the Johane Masowe eChishanu Church and regularly attended its religious gatherings.

His support reportedly extended beyond individual gifts, with donations of vehicles and buses intended to assist the church with transportation.

He also provided financial assistance to members facing challenges involving school fees, medical expenses and other personal needs.

His contributions made him a familiar figure within the religious community, where his visits and donations often attracted attention.

Both men have now died in separate accidents

Pachinhevere's reported death has attracted additional attention because it follows the death of Chivayo himself.

The businessman died on September 30, 2026, when a helicopter carrying him, his wife Lucy Muteke and other occupants crashed near Marondera, Zimbabwe.

All six people aboard the aircraft reportedly died in the accident, prompting investigations by authorities into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Details surrounding Pachinhevere's road accident, including its exact location and cause, have not yet been independently established.

Although the two deaths have attracted attention because of their connection, there is no verified evidence linking the separate accidents.

The resurfaced photograph has nevertheless brought back memories of a gift that once symbolised Chivayo's generosity towards members of the church.
