ZAF Receives MRI and CT Scan Machines From Wonderful Group
Zambia Air Force personnel and surrounding communities are set to benefit from improved access to specialised medical diagnosis following the donation of two advanced medical machines to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF).
The Wonderful Group of Companies has donated a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and a Computerised Tomography (CT) scan machine to the Air Force's Medical Services Department.
The donation was received on Friday, October 16, 2026, during a meeting between the Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni, and Wonderful Group Chief Executive Officer Huang Yaochi at the company's headquarters in Lusaka.
Mr Huang described the donation as a goodwill gesture from the company.
Where the Equipment Will Be Installed
The two machines will be installed at the ZAF Hospital at Air Force Headquarters, where they are expected to strengthen the facility's ability to diagnose medical conditions.
MRI and CT scan machines play an important role in identifying injuries and illnesses that may require specialised investigation. Access to this equipment can help medical professionals make more informed decisions when determining appropriate treatment.
Speaking after receiving the donation, Lt Gen Nyoni expressed gratitude to the company, noting that access to quality diagnostic healthcare was essential for both military personnel and the surrounding communities served by ZAF bases.
He said the equipment would be taken care of and put to use by the Medical Services Department.
“Therefore, this state-of-the-art medical equipment represents far more than just a donation. It is a statement of intent of the good that Wonderful Group wishes to achieve in Zambia through investing in the health and well-being of our people,” Lt Gen Nyoni said.
A Boost to Healthcare Delivery
The Air Force Commander also highlighted the importance of partnerships between private companies and public institutions in supporting national development.
He thanked the Wonderful Group for its contribution and expressed hope that the relationship between the two institutions would lead to further initiatives benefiting communities.
The donation is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery at the ZAF Hospital by improving access to diagnostic services, an important step in ensuring patients receive appropriate treatment.
For patients requiring specialised scans, the availability of such equipment at the facility could make a meaningful difference in the medical care they receive.
The installation and use of the machines will be the next important step in translating the donation into improved healthcare services.
